WARNING: Like most of my dreams tend to be, rather gory, rather dark. At least this one starts out that way but it gets better. :)
So, last night...
I was lost in a dark alleyway. It was very dark and dirty and grimy. I was stumbling around and felt awful. I was trying to run and hide from a man who was looking for me. I knew that if he found me he'd probably beat me or worse. My mouth hurt. Apparently he had kicked me in the mouth. I hid in a brick doorway. Suddenly my teeth started falling out. It was really horrifying. I could actually feel them get loose in my mouth and then I'd spit them out. I started sobbing loudly… at this point I really didn’t care if he found me.
Someone touched my shoulder and I realized there was a tall gentleman standing beside me. He wore nice clean clothing but his black hair was wild, long and messy. It was easily waist-length. I couldn’t see his face but the moon behind his head made him look so ethereal. Then he spoke in the softest loveliest voice and I realized he was actually a woman,
“Why are you crying, love?”
She felt very familiar but I couldn't see and or I don’t remember her face.
I couldn’t talk so I showed her my bloody hands with my lost teeth. Her gloved hand caressed my face, “Ah, I see. I shall have to give you new ones.”
She gently pulled me up and drew me to her chest. I felt her stroke my hair and then felt her bite my neck. It didn’t hurt at all, just sort of felt damp like a gentle hickie. She pulled back and smiled, revealing a mouthful of bloody needle-sharp teeth and a jaw line that was too wide to be human. Sort of like a monkfish. I still found her to be lovely.
“How do you like them?”
I felt my new teeth and found them to be like hers. She took my hand, kissed it, and said,
“Let’s go dancing on the bay.”
We were floating up over the roof tops, walking on air. Unlike most of my flying dreams, it felt effortless. We drifted over the water and she wound an arm around my waist whispering,
“Don’t be afraid.”
We flew over the water, waltzing inches above it as it glimmered with city lights. The water was so dark. I began to sink into it and fear seized me.
“It so dark! It’s going to swallow me! Please help.”
She just floated above me, smiling.
“Silly, the darkness can’t swallow you… you are the darkness.”
It sounds all metaphorical now but it made sense in the dream. I was literally terrified I’d melt into the water and cease to exist. It’s hard to explain… it wasn’t just water, it was like liquefied darkness.
I rose back up and she took my hand. We danced some more and then wandered towards the docks. She told me to run and when I asked what was wrong she said,
“Nothing. They’re chasing me again and I think this time I’ll let them catch me.”
A bunch of men with torches came around the corner. I got really upset and tried to drag her with me but she was totally resigned to her fate, like she wanted it. She told me it was my turn. So, I ran and looked behind me to see them setting her on fire as she just stood there, perfectly still.
The dream sort of shifted though the plot of it stayed loosely intact. I came to a fenced field and rested against it. Loki from the film Thor (the way he looked) was sitting on the fence. I saw other people out in the field. Lightning and fireballs went back and forth between the people and yet they were all laughing and having fun… like ultimate Frisbee only with fireballs.
“What’s going on out there?” I asked.
He patted the fence next to him so I climbed up and sat beside him,
“The Gods are playing chess. Would you like to join?”
“But I’m not a god.”
“You are now.” When he said that I realized I was dreaming, remembered that I could fly and so flew across the field, dodging fireballs, ice shards, etc. It was actually a lot of fun. I came back to the fence and Loki asked me if I wanted to go to the chocolate shop. So we did and there were shelves and shelves of really cool-looking chocolates. The shelves themselves arched over the ceiling of the store (defying gravity, the chocolate stayed on them). At this point things just got more and more bizarre and I don’t remember too much beyond that point.
And then Gabe was a zombie.
